North Star Rifle Club was incorporated in 1960, with special emphasis on rifle marksmanship. Over the years, the club has a US National High Power Champion, three members of the US Palma Team, and two US National Junior Champions. Membership is open to adult NRA members who are interested in precision rifle shooting.
The club has property located between Hastings and Red Wing near US Hwy 61. Driving time from downtown Minneapolis is about 50 minutes. The range has 20 targets, with firing points at 200, 300, 500, and 600 yards. We also have a 100 yard range suitable for handguns and rifles of any type. . The range is located in a scenic valley, with the hillsides covered with oak, maple, and aspen. The facility is used from spring through fall, with winter use depending on snow conditions. There are areas for overnight camping, although no water or electricity is available.
The range is available for members use from 7:30AM until sunset. The range is not open to non-members except during club sponsored matches, The club sponsors a number of rifle matches each year, including a 4 times per season league, designed for novice as well as experienced shooters, plus a Regional High Power Match and various NRA registered shoots. Dues are $125.00 per year, with a one time $25.00 initiation fee. Applicants are expected to be current NRA members and able to legally own firearms. Members are required to provide one day of service each year to the club in addition to the dues. Membership is currently open to those interested in precision shooting. Applications are accepted during the business meetings and new members are subject to the approval of current members. New members are considered conditional during their first year and are not eligible to vote during business meetings. Conditional members are accepted into full membership at the end of their first year by a vote of club. For more information about membership, click on the link at the bottom of this page.
